The name Pong Pong Pui carries a story. Pong is a very Cantonese onomatopoeic nod to the rhythmic bang of clay being hit, exactly how this collection came to life with a rolling pin in my hand during the shaping process of the vessels. Pui means “cup” in Cantonese. When I showed my parents a video of me hitting the clay, they came up with the name, and it was so cute that it just stuck!
